One of Errenteria’s most prized heritage treasures, San Marcos Fort, will kick off the summer season next week. From 3 June to 27 September, it will be open from Wednesday to Sunday, offering locals and visitors free guided tours, family activities and the chance to enjoy the natural surroundings.
While the fort is open, visitors will be able to learn more about the origins of the region and this historic building through free guided tours. In addition, special family tours will be organised, designed to help visitors discover history in a fun way.
Inside the fort, you can see spectacular replicas of cannons and howitzers, as well as the permanent exhibition on the Aizpitarte caves. Furthermore, at the information point located at the entrance to the fort, you can obtain information on all the tourist attractions in the region.
To round off your visit to the fort, why not take in the natural surroundings? Following the footpaths through Lau Haizeta Park, you can discover prehistoric remains such as the Aitzetako Txabala dolmen. To finish off the day, the playground and picnic area next to the car park are an excellent choice for spending time with family or friends.
