Discover Maritime Culture
Albaola
At the entrance to the Bay of Pasaia (Gipuzkoa), the ALBAOLA ITSAS KULTUR FAKTORIA is located, housed in a restored shipyard and next to the old Jaizkibel steam dredger.
In this magical and hidden corner, riverside carpenters restore and build boats of great ethnographic and historical value.

The MATER Eco-Active Boat Museum is a classic tuna boat from the Cantabrian Sea. It was built of wood using traditional methods. After hundreds of fishing trips, the Itsas Gela association saved it from demolition to become a floating museum about artisanal fishing and the importance of protecting the sea.
Victor Hugo House
This is a typical Pasaia house with a direct access to the Bay. It was built in the 17th century and was where Victor Hugo stayed during his stay in Pasaia in 1843.
We will enjoy the essence of the 19th century Pasaia that fascinated Victor Hugo thanks to the exhibition "Victor Hugo, a journey into memory". A well-deserved tribute, not only to the valuable drawings and writings left by Hugo, but also to those who have left their mark on this great writer throughout history.
