Plans for enjoying nature in Errenteria: Guided tours of the local nature areas are back, from August to October 2026

Once again, the opportunity has arrived to rediscover the natural treasures of our local area. Errenteria Town Council is once again organising a programme of guided walks through the town’s natural areas. It’s an excellent way to enjoy nature at the weekend, whether in a group or with the family, and to discover the secrets of our hills and forests at first hand.

All the walks are free of charge and will start at 10.00 am. Here are this year’s options:

1. The Azpitarte Caves: a journey back to the Palaeolithic era

A one-and-a-half-hour excursion offering the chance to learn about the place where our ancestors lived. Setting off from the Listorreta-Barrengoloia information office, we’ll step back in time to discover the history of the caves.

  • Dates: 9 August, 5 September and 4 October.

2. Lau Haizeta Park and Megalithic Monuments

Starting at the car park at San Marcos Fort, this three-hour walk will take us into the Txoritokieta megalithic site to see its dolmens and burial mounds. At the same time, we will enjoy the rich natural beauty of the area’s forests and wetlands.

Dates: 15 August, 13 September and 10 October.

3. Añarbe Forest reserve

A wonderful four-hour walk starting from Idoia (Susperregi). We’ll walk through the beech woods and discover the biodiversity of the area, as well as the unique features of the wildlife that inhabits the Malbazar and Pagosarde wetlands.
Dates: 23 August, 19 September and 18 October.

4. The area around Aldura, Pertsele and Igantzi

A four-hour walk to enjoy a variety of landscapes and stunning panoramic views of the Añarbe reservoir. Starting from Idoia (Susperregi), we’ll explore the Aldura snowfield and the wetlands that provide a habitat for the area’s amphibians and birds.

Dates: 29 August, 27 September and 24 October.

Taking part in the tours has its rewards!

This year, we also want to reward participation. Therefore, those who take part in any of the outings and subsequently complete a satisfaction survey to give their feedback will be entered into a prize draw for a free ticket to visit the museums in Oarsoaldea.

Although the activities are free, you must register in advance to secure your place:
